I read the comments to the 2010 Warren Cuccurullo interview and...ouch.

When I read this interview, it immediately made me think about the Duran reunion show I saw in London in 2003 (at the Forum). I was standing in front of the stage, almost in the middle, slightly to the right. As I'm 1.93m tall I had a very clear view. When they started Come Undone, I thought I was having an illusion : What I saw was that Andy's fingermovements weren't in time with what I was hearing. I've studied how Warren played Come Undone in the ninenties to be able to play it on my acoustic guiter so I know the chords and the movements. What I saw Andy do was miming. At the end of the concert I even went to ask the sound engineer. He said everything was played live. Yeah right. Now that I've read Warren's interview, it totally makes sense. I know now 100% sure that my eyes and ears weren't playing tricks on me that night and I can totally understand why the band didn't want him to see a reunion show. It would have been an ultimate insult to him. I'm not saying that Andy never learned to play Come Undone. I'm saying that he was miming to a prerecorded track that night at the Forum. If you want to start an Andy Taylor fan club, don’t ask Warren Cuccurullo to join.

He's incapable of redoing my work. He doesn't have the ears. He had big, big problems with the songs. The thing is, if you're a guitar player who, first of all understands Led Zeppelin, which if you're going to call yourself a "rock" guitar player, you better understand Led Zeppelin - the soft and the hard of Zeppelin. [Warren pretends to play guitar] So if you're going to attempt to play "Ordinary World," which is in the key of C-sharp, you have to use your ears and see where the open strings are occurring. Any guitar player would do it. Once you find the key, C-sharp, you'll see that you have an open E-string, an open B-string, and if you're holding it in different positions like in the 7th or 5th position, you say, "Oh, C-sharp minor, here's the 7th in the top, ok, now I'm playing a B." [Pauses] He couldn't find where those parts are, dude! He couldn't hear the voicings of the chords, man. That means he's tone deaf and - in a guitaristic sense - lame! Spastic! Because it's all there. The only way you could play it is like that. And then the voicings that he decided or thought were working in the verses completely screwed up Simon's melody. I sent an email to Nick with the exact voicings and everything, man. They couldn't even talk to the guy. It was impossible to even be able to communicate with the guy. Nick's words were, "Pure rage." It's the only thing that would come out of him. So imagine trying to work with somebody like that. This ear worm remains a mystery

I get earworms frequently, and over half the time I don’t know why.

So earlier this afternoon a song from The Gap Band, “You Dropped a Bomb on Me,” popped into my head.

And in this case, I figured that I knew exactly why that song was in my head, because it was so obvious.

I watched the movie “Blast From The Past” a couple of weekends ago. (Surprising, I know.)

That movie had an extensive soundtrack - everything from an early 1970s Randy Newman song, “Political Science,” to the predictable choice of R.E.M.’s “It’s the End of the World As We Know It,” to “Y.M.C.A.” because why not?

So I checked the soundtrack...

...and The Gap Band song was NOT on the soundtrack. 

Of course, the famous song from the Laziest Men on Mars (including the line “somebody set us up the bomb”) didn’t appear either.

Interesting, because their philosophical sensibilities were more in line with the electrified bands - well, once Dylan went electric.
