Oyuki

So. Having just finished the available webcomic Empowered pages and having a distant memory of reading all of V8, here’s what my opinion on Oyuki’s feelings are:

The abuse from Ninjette’s father only got way worse after the contraceptive Ninjutsu was used, and so she partially resents Ninjette for that, even if she was for it at the time.

Another thing I think she doesn’t like is that Ninjette never tried to usurp her father, or kill him, or make him stop abusing Oyuki, and that she thinks Ninjette has a way better life than her, and strongly resents her for it.

As for why she berated Ninjette after being asked to escape together, it could be for several reasons, but with the above I believe that it’s resentment that had already built up by then, fear, and a little bit of wanting Ninjette to not look back, so to speak, that tipped her finally over the edge.

There’s also the possibility that it’s a bit of the stuff I mentioned above, but that Oyuki sees herself as a good Kaburagi ninja who’s followed the rules but is miserable, and so is very angry at Ninjette and feels betrayed by Ninjette’s absence. 

Plus the fact that it’s quite possible that she was punished extremely harshly both for Ninjette’s escape and the contraceptive spell. The sort of thing that would leave her semi-permanently dissociating, particularly around a trigger that reminds her of the trauma, as Ninjette would in both of the above cases.

The Real Last Oyuki Post

I swear, if Ninjette and Oyuki work through their issues and become friends for realsies (probably with Emp’s help) I’ll lose my shit. In a good way, I mean.

Bonus points if Oyuki changes her name to distance herself from her Kaburagi past, Ꝏbonus points if she takes the name of one of the Ayakami ninjas she killed and makes a new Ayakami clan dedicated to destroying Kaburagi.
