I couldn't sleep last night so I found myself rereading some of the iris oracle--specifically the cave scene with Asra and Iris. It reminded me of how nuanced and perfect the way you write Asra is. Seriously, just say the word and I could probably write a dissertation's worth about how much I love the your version of him.

I can't really put into words how much this made my day. On a deeply personal level, I've had a very tough couple of weeks, including a discouraging writers block. But comments like this keep me going.

It means so much to me that that scene in particular resonates with folks. Asra was (and is still!) one of the most difficult characters for me to write, and write well - he defies me at every turn, that sly goddamn fox. That scene was a big risk, and I didn't know what it was really achieving until much, much later in the Oracle, when Asra was ready to show me. (It takes a lot for him to open up.)

Thank you for sharing with me, but more than that, thank you for reading and for re-reading the Oracle. If you want to write a dissertation, I promise I'll read it and cherish it forever. But only if the muse is burning in you!
