And what to my thrifting eyes should appear but a dozen 1oz hexagon jars with lids, for $5. This is EXACTLY what I needed to get going on the saffron-infused honey I've been wanting to make.

I realize I need a giant ass cabinet for all my giant ass jars and a giant ass bookshelf for all my giant ass books.
Empty Yankee Candle jars
What to do with empty Yankee Candle Jars small, medium and large. Makeup holders or sweet jars are the common uses for them but I dont really need those, they just take up space. I could melt some wax and make a new candle but it wont be fresh and well made like I can buy at the shop. Yankee Candles are so beautifully made, graceful to look at and the scents are so relaxing.
Any suggestions?
I have just thrown away (to the recycle bin) exactly EIGHTY empty jars from under my bed.
Seriously.
Who keeps so many empty jars under their bed?!!
(I actually CAN explain, but...)
Mustard green pickles.
Usually I save empty jars for crafts, but this time I decided to make Mustard Greens pickles. They're a bit time consuming, but very easy to make. The ingredients below filled up perfectly for my two empty "Ragu" jars.
Ingredients:
A pack of mustard greens (gai choy)
1/2 Cup of salt
3 Cups of water
1 Cup of sugar
1 Cup of Vinegar
Red chilli(s) (optional)
First rinse the mustard greens and rub salt on them. Place them on baskets to dry out for 8 hours. Chop them horizontally into 1 inch pieces. Carefully put them into your jar(s) along with some red chilli. Do not try to pack down.
Boil 3 cups of water with 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of vinegar. Let it cool slightly before pouring them into the jar(s). Fill all the way to the top! Let cool before putting a lid on it. Here's the hard part: waiting 3 days for it to be ready :(. The crunchiness with the sour, sweet, and spicy goodness is worth it omnooooooom.
This will go perfect as a side dish, with congee, or even soups!
