Squirrel Girl in the mood.
Was sketching out a Mecha and Stem character today. His name’s Crescent and he’s a snobby, self-important ass hat. Worst thing is, he knows he looks good. I feel like a lot of people are going to like this guy, honestly.

So... I found this old animation meme that I never really properly finished (the original was made by an artist I was following at the time but I ended up having a falling out with said artist and so I never finished it--”falling out” not meaning that we were ever friends at one point, I was just a fan and the one time she responds to a question I left on one of her videos she was a cunt about it and blocked me, so... y’know). The first thing that really stood out to me was exactly how desaturated Herbert (the octopus character) was back then. That was a huge problem with my older art--it’s so lacking in colour. The undersides of his tentacles don’t have any colour of their own, same with his suction cups. Even his eyes look kind of lifeless to an extent because I used too light of a grey and the highlights don’t stand out enough. Despite that, however... I wasn’t in school for art yet when I made this. I didn’t know anything about colour theory back then... but here I’ve used a blue background to contrast the orange of Herbert’s body, and the purple to contrast the yellow of the text. Didn’t even know what the hell I was doing back then and somehow... it looks like I did?
No Chill Towards Icy [Co-op with Doodletones] Honestly, the most fun thing about this thumbnail was that I finally got to draw Fiend's underside. I really need to start utilizing him more in my commentary artwork. This one was inked and coloured traditionally with prismacolor markers and then touched up in photoshop a wee bit, since my tablet pan was broken at the time.
