empty-church: But we have to be ready to accept whatever answer God has for us. A BIG part of prayer is trusting God to do what is best, regardless of what we hope He does.

...wuz here?
On this Episode:
It has been said that Millennials are more philanthropy-oriented than previous generations. We give more per dollar earned than our wealthier counterparts. But is this the type of service that makes a real difference in the lives of people?
That is the question presented to us today,. Trust me, You don’t want to miss a word of this episode of Another Empty Conversation.
The time has arrived for Another Empty Conversation - a show that lets you eavesdrop on a conversation about faith and following Jesus. We talk about our faith so you can talk about yours. My name is Josh and I welcome you to Empty Conversation episode 1dot14.
And if you live in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States you are probably recovering from the historic snowfall. I know we have been digging out for a couple of days now ourselves.
It is our last week here at the Jesus Gym - these past four weeks have pumped up our prayer life, built some biblical biceps and taught us that we should never workout alone. Today we turn our attention to dirty work of following Jesus. So far our workout routines have been centered around making our own spiritual lives better and more fulfilling. But today is about serving others and revealing the divine in them.
But before we jump into today’s conversation I want to remind you that the Jesus Gym never closes. These four weeks were planning sessions to help you develop a routine that benefits you and others for the rest of your life. Getting spiritually fit so you can live empty is a lifelong process.
Here is what I don’t like: the word “serving” is equated to giving money. But as Criss Jami says, "Good works is giving to the poor and the helpless, but divine works is showing them their worth to the One who matters."
When you serve someone you reveal their value both to you and to God. Money does not reveal divine value in people. But humbly disadvantaging yourself in the service of others does. Who are you going to serve today?

Sermon of the Week presented by Empty Church - Honest With God
Every Wednesday Empty Church will post a sermon that enlightened, encouraged, and emptied us. We figured that if it encourages us it might encourage you. We recognize our place in the kingdom of God as just one voice in the conversation. We wanted to introduce you to some of the others.
Honest With God - The Link Church
"When life is not working out, when we experience suffering it can rattle our trust - our belief in a loving God." Pastor Mike Landry guides us through Psalm 22 and what happens to our relationship with God when life gets tough.
About The Link Church
AtThe Link Church "you can expect a casual atmosphere and lots of life. You will soon meet many others who have gathered together to be challenged and inspired to live out our faith in Jesus all week."
You can visit there website at www.linkchurch.org
Here is a video that explains more about the church:
Empty Church is not affiliated with this church in any way. These are not paid endorsements. We simply were inspired by their message and motivated to share the voices of the kingdom of God with as many people as we can. #ec1dot12 - The Jesus Gym: Pumped up Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven...Why is it so difficult to talk to you? You are supposed to be our Father and friend and yet, talking to you seems so awkward at times.
But it is talking that we do, even if it is just Another Empty Conversation
Last week we discussed the workout of reading God’s word every on a consistent basis and this week we turn our discussion into the discussion about our discussion with God.
On Today’s topic, and all the other topics in this series, we center our discussion around what is known as a SWOT analysis. It measures the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats that are involved in setting up a plan to pray more consistently.
We feel that doing a good personal assessment is the first step in making a plan that sticks. And the SWOT analysis is a great way to make a personal assessment. Each week we post our collective SWOTs for the topic on our blog and we have even made a template for you if you wish to do your own assessment.
Praying to the God you can’t see poses challenges - there is no denying it. But the experience of prayer is something felt - Like the electricity in the air when you are in the presence of someone who deeply love.
Still, we should not be discouraged when we don’t feel that electricity. Even the disciples fell asleep when Jesus asked them to pray with him in his time of greatest need.
Instead of feeling defeated, disheartened, use that uneasiness as a prompt to push in closer, speak bolder, and build some spiritual muscle.

[Special Edition] Gym Shorts - The Plural of Bigfoot
We've told you that we at Empty Church are all about exploring the mysteries of the universe. While standing around the water cooler at the Jesus Gym we began discussing the deep topic of the Yeti. More specifically, what do you call a group of Bigfoots, er, Bigfeets, er... well just listen to the show.
We never do come to a conclusive answer. What are your thoughts? What is the plural of Bigfoot? Let us know in the comments below.
