Can we talk about how the new issue of Invaders reveals Namor is actually GOOD WITH KIDS?!??? I stan one [1] child-loving fish man.

Kind of related to the anon from earlier, but how do you improve your writing? I don't have any friends in the marvel fandom, and I really worried that I'm getting characters wrong or ooc, and I'm also worried about the fact that my chapters seem to be short compared to others that I've read. I really want to know how to improve myself so eventually I can be a great writer!

So here’s the thing about improving your writing. Keep writing. Juuuust keep writing. People can always have a talent for something, but you can never be really truly great at anything unless you practice.

I’m not always writing; I don’t write everyday. But I’m always thinking about stories - where the next one’s going and how I’m going to approach it. And if I’m ever in a funk, I like to do five minute writing challenges. Short and easy, and a great way to get a story out as quickly as possible. I’m either always writing or in the writing world.

As for your thing about your characters, chances are, you probably aren’t OOC, or as OOC as you think you are. We’re always our own harshest critic. And honey, there is (almost) no such thing as a too short chapter, but there is ABSOLUTELY such a thing as a too long chapter. Honestly, my chapter one of The Wedding of Bucky Barnes is too long, but the story is set up to be told in four parts, so I’m fine with an 18k-word chapter. And while yes, we do love it when our fave writers give us A LOT in one go, that still doesn’t mean they should.

(No disrespect though to those who do post long chapters. It’s your style and I love you, and you keep doing your thing. It works for you.)

So basically, don’t worry about your chapter being too short. Worry that the story that needed to be told in that chapter was told in its entirety. That is literally all that matters.

And if you think you’ve plateaued, NEVER feel bad about reaching out to those you look up to in the fandom to read your thing and give their two cents. We were all new to writing at some point. We’ve all been where you are. ❤️💙
