"Holy landslide," Robinson muttered. Buck had to agree.
Half the cliff side was gone, slid down towards the beach and into the ocean below.
"118 you’re the first on sight," Josh informed them over the radio. "Congratulations Captain Han, you’re the IC."
"Great," Chimney muttered. "Do we have any idea what happened here, Dispatch?"
"Best guess is that the earthquake last month destabilized the cliff side and it all came down when they started tearing open the ground with heavy machinery. According to my information there are seven people unaccounted for, that went down, four construction workers, the foreman and the couple who own the property."
Chimney registered the information with a thoughtful nod. "Any idea how unstable the ground is around here now?"
"The part the road is on seems to be fairly stable rock face," Josh told him, "for everything closer to the ocean than that it’s hard to make a good guess."
"So we can’t move the engines off the road unless we want to risk another landslide," Chimney summarized. "Any chance we can get a few rescue choppers up here?"
"I’ll give you what I’ve got, but we have that wildfire up north, so they’re a bit short staffed at the moment." "What about boats, I’m not sure from the top is the best angle of attack here."
"Sea rescue crew is on its way, about ten minutes out."
Chimney took a deep breath. "Right. Guess, we better get to work then."
