emyrys replied to your post “emyrys: justalurkr replied to your photoset Series? My first...”
I've never been able to watch much WWII based series or movies (or any war based, really) but knowing they survived and went home to live together may make me be able to watch this. Someday.
I mean, it is FUCKING INTENSE and there are definitely guys who do not make it, but yeah, our two main officer heroes are a-okay and deeply RPF-able, uh, aside from Actual Dick Winters being one of the venerable grandpas who makes appearances at the beginning and end of episodes which could. maybe. make things a little weird. As I recall.
I first watched Band of Brothers when it was airing live--I was in college at the time and it was 2001 so there was not quite the wealth of ways to look up information about this online that there are now, but I knew my brother had read the actual book the miniseries is based on, so after watching the first episode I called him for history-spoilers so I would know who was safe to get attached to. So. Yeah. I can like, make you a list if you ever decide to watch. :)

(I’m glad everyone seems to be out of there)
Yeah, I gotta say, it's been a wild afternoon. Apparently it wasn't a crash; the engine went out on the plane and they made an emergency landing on the water (so Sully!). My hat's off to the pilot, for sure, because even with a small plane, if he'd brought that down on the nearby very popular beach or on a house or a roadway/cars, that could have been disastrous. I'm glad both pilot and passenger are all right.
emyrys reblogged your post “i need cake”
The cake was a delicious, delicious chocolatey reality, which I microwaved a little so the icing melted all over the mulberries I added to it, because mulberries and chocolate were meant to be.
Sometimes the cake is not a lie.

It's been 20+ years since I watched a single second of MSW. I may not be qualified!
@emyrys That’s awesome! See, I insulated myself so thoroughly from Who I didn’t even know that, but that’s so good. My cautious joy has been upgraded to unabashed and without hesitation!

IS this your first time watching them? I hope they distract you from any lingering pain & blech of the day (I love that series very very much!)
I’ve seen Miss Fisher’s Mysteries and ADORE Phryne ... but I didn’t realize there was a follow-up with her niece Peregrin Fisher in the 60s! :)))
