its really horrifying to me that people (specifically women, specifically self-identified feminists!) shy away from disavowing plastic surgery. I don't understand how you can say, in the middle of a discussion of harmful beauty norms, that plastic surgery is fine and a woman’s choice. you’re allowed to say something is bad! its impossible to make choices in a vacuum and plastic surgery, without a doubt, is something people (and specifically women) get to fit into the norms that you’re acknowledging are bad. can we please eliminate the idea that any choice a woman makes is inherently a feminist choice

#same with makeup #you can do whatever you want but those things ARE for the most part about meetingeurocentric standards and ARE treated as compulsory for wom #en!#god I'm just like... can we put some backbone into our feminist rhetoric #I know its high school and everyone's just doing their best #but please...#I should get more involved with the club just to put some even marginally more radical ideas on the table #which I do anyways by talking at almost every meeting #but you know #p
