Maybe before, she would have screamed and cried. Pleaded with Manager Dante to not do this, to leave her be. To let her die the burden she has been for a while, maybe.
But at this point, there is just acceptance. Acceptance that this is life for her now. That even if she wanted to die, she couldn't, and maybe that is okay. Maybe it is okay that she's a part of the bus, because she has a role to play, even if it isn't as big as Gretchen's or maybe Dongbaek's. She has to clean Gregor's mask, water his flowers, hang out with Cathy and Heathcliff. Scold Marie for saying too much about her husband, maybe if she'll talk to her anymore, do Yuzuki's hair, talk to Don Quixote about justice and ingenious ideas.
She has a role to play, even if it isn't major, and she's not so sure if she's the best person for it, but maybe she can try to be. She'll try to be the best person, the best version, for all the Yuris who have died untimely. For Gregor, who also lost a Yuri, who needs her.
She lies flat on the ground, hands on her stomach staring at the night sky. It's really late, and some stars are visible tonight. Maybe one of them is Alex, and maybe another one is the Gregor from her world. Maybe they're waving when they twinkle.
The stars won't burn out for a very long time. She can still meet them, even if she takes a little longer.
One of her hands lowers to the pocket of her pants. The familiar weight and shape of her Gregor's glasses press against her palm.
Stars reflected in her eyes, she lets herself cry.
