I have gone nearly incommunicado since December, and just dyed my hair.
I AM FINE.
I didn't bring out the scissors. No bangs. 🤗
I have traded free time for sleep, so I'm not doomscrolling nearly as much as I was. But I'm still around and about!
(Also I'm working again so I'm no longer looking at my phone 16 hours a day XD)
I'm still getting notifications but it's all bot clones and that Ao3 post from last year. It broke containment again in November and keeps going o.o
So if anyone wants to diversify my notes feel free :D
I'm a bit confused by Disney's choices concerning how to view their programs. There are several shows I wouldn't mind watching, and that's been the case for years. But I can't afford limitless streaming services so I've done without.
We do budget for the occasional blu-ray movie or collection, though. We'll generally treat ourselves to a title or two at Christmas so we can catch up on what we missed over streaming and theaters. (It's how we watched the first 7 seasons of GoT, a whole year behind everyone else.)
But Disney isn't offering their streamed programs? Even ones that are several seasons in? I'd like to have DuckTales and Owl House. I'm quite curious about The Mandalorian even though I stopped keeping up with Star Wars. Hawkeye and Wandavision are on my radar and I'd like to see how they expand the MCU which yes, I am still following. We don't get out to theaters but we do add every new DVD to our shelves.
But those shows? Not available to take home. Despite some of them being quite popular or even viral. Seriously, Disney, why don't you want my $30 or $40 for a box set? More for multiple seasons? Are you honestly that set on making me subscribe to streaming instead? Do you really want me to slide you $8 then use all my free time to binge one of the shows then cancel? Because that would honestly be more cost effective for me. Even if it takes me the whole year to get through all of the shows I want to see, at $80 I'd probably be saving over buying the box sets for all the seasons of all those shows.
Do you really want less of my money in the long run? Because I honestly prefer physical copies. If you had them. Why the heck don't you have them.
No seriously wth Disney. You otherwise deluge the world with merchandise so where are the damned shiny disks.
So. Since I'm one of those Broke Millennials, I figured I may as well get a taste of The Reason I am broke, according to Financial Experts and The News.
Behold, I have purchased and eaten the illustrious Avocado Toast (with roasted tomatoes).
...it was delicious. But as this is the only one I've ever purchased, I think some other factor may be tanking my finances.
(Probably the stagnant wages that are about 10k below industry average, or lack of contract work the last two years.)
At least the experiment improved my hangry. Capitalism is stressful. Eat good food whenever you can.
My autocorrect has been gaslighting me.
I've watched it randomly change tenses on words, or change one correctly typed word out for another. But I thought I was genuinely mistyping a couple things because I'd get "I'd" instead of "is" and "Qasim" instead of "was" a lot. (Which made me wonder just how bad I was typing on that second one.)
But I discovered that no, I was typing those words right after all. And I finally have proof.
[ID: A screenshot of a text entry window titled "Send Note" with the text "[Redacted] Qasim out" entered in the window. Qasim is underlined, indicating it is a replacement from autocorrect, with a pop-up box showing "was" was the original word. End ID.]
My phone. Has it out for my sanity.
I want to see Blorbo from your shows!
Someone tell my executives to function.
