I am obsessed with the new Ariana grande album so might write my thoughts and analysis of each song (and it’d be here because word count and why not). I already have on my own, as I sometimes do to albums after I listen to them, but it’s been over a week and I’m still listening to it. Might as well
I have seen some of the criticisms, which in general seem to miss the entire point. They’re too caught up with the spectacle and discourse surrounding Ariana, they treat as song as a product to analyze and critique rather than what the song is saying, why the lyrics were written, why it was produced that way.
I don’t know how someone can listen to that album and not be worried about her well-being. Even if it’s through the barrier of art, her pop star persona, and the ponytail, the overall album is has a depressing, death-centered message. How are her fans discussing this? I will not enter stan spaces, I already know they deny deny deny and put her on a pedestal.
She is a flawed human, and an amazing vocalist.
