All Animal All Purpose Ointment
It’s been a while since I have posted, sorry, life was happening ;)
In late January I had a sick duck. Unsure of what was wrong with her I pulled her from the flock and treated her and to my semi-surprise I was successful!
I was not sure what was wrong with her, she had a hold on the side of her head but it was sensitive and there was clear viscous drainage. She would not really let me look so at first I was unsure if maybe it was just an ear infection. I took pics and shared them on various FB pages with little to no response. The pics were better than this, but I have since lost all my pics and this is all I could find.
Someone did suggest that maybe it could a bot fly larva (warble). I did a little research and came to the same conclusion.
Here is a pic that looked similar to what I did see a day later:
I was entirely unsure of how to treat her. I mean, was the larva still in her head? And IF it was, was it in her brain? OK, maybe that was a bit dramatic, but I seriously did not know one thing about bot fly/warbles. I immediately rummaged through my herb infused oils and put a little concoction together. I applied it twice a day for 7 days. At the end of day 2 there was no drainage and the hole was scabbing over. Olive, the name I gave her, was even in better spirits!
After the 7 days, the hole had scabbed over and was closing and her feathers were growing back as well. I dubbed Olive well enough to return to the flock and she has since been living THE duck life ever since!
In February, I started having my eggs stolen so I was very well aware that we had a visitor at night. One morning I noticed one of my Muscovy ducklings, Lavender, was hurt.
Lavender, approx 4 months old.

I was completely unsure of what attacked her but was leaning toward an opossum or rat. I pulled out my trusty oil blend and applied it directly to the wound and gently massaged the area to make sure the oil was evenly distributed. Once again I applied twice a day but did’t see such a fast improvement with her. The would never got infected though. It looked a lot like the above pic for quite some time before I noticed that the skin was slowly growing back (no scab). After about 10-11 day Lavender was getting stir crazy so I applied Blue Kote and let her go out with the flock and she too, has been doing well ever since.
Also in February, my mini goat (pygmy) went into labor. The kid was too big and she lost it but I did try to pull it out before heading to the vet for an emergency C-section. I applied the oil blend to my gloved hand and arm and tried with all my might to get that baby out but I was unsuccessful. Thanks to the oil blend there wasn’t too much swelling.
We have been somewhat boring around here lately so I have been applying it my dogs and cats. The dogs always seem to have a tick that’s big and nasty and the cats love to fight with the dogs so someone always has a scrape or cut. The oil blend works wonderfully on all my animals and; unless I find that one of the ingredients is not recommended for a certain animal, I recommend it to everyone. I will have the oil blend and the ointment available in my Etsy store soon!
