Regina had been going on a rant in her office for the past twenty minutes. It was like everyone in the town wanted (or demanded) something from her and most of it involved messing with the town budget.

“Do they just not understand?! This isn’t the Enchanted Forest! We can’t just do as we please, inspectors have to be involved and-“ The ranting Mayor was cut off by Emma’s lips which in return made her body lose its tension. She sighed and rest her hands to Emma’s cheek.

a  pause  ,  hands  still  as  she  idles  between  retrieving  cash  from  her  wallet  &*  handing  it  to  granny  behind  the  counter.       she  blinks  ,  emeralds  flickering  over  to  neal  ,  then  quickly  relinquishes  herself  from  her  freeze  to  pay  for  the  grilled  cheese.       her  eyes  fall  towards  her  wallet  as  granny  counts  change.        the  photo  is  of  her  &*  henry  –  covers  her  drivers  license  with  that  shitty  portrait  she  hates.         does  anyone  ever  look  good  in  a  drivers  license  ?       the  idea  that  they  could  have  had  a  polaroid  together  all  those  years  ago  to  cover  her  fake  id  makes  her  chest  ache  &*  brings  her  to  dry  swallow  away  the  feeling.     ❛    that's  probably  the  most  sentimental  shit  you've  ever  said  to  me  ,  neal.     ❜        she  aims  her  tone  was  disgust  –  lands  somewhere  fond  anyway.      

nervous  gaze  focuses  on  granny  as  she  smiles  &*  takes  her  change  ,  then  slides  to  rest  more  steadily  on  neal  –  though  she  squarely  looks  at  his  cheek  instead  of  his  eyes.       his  eyes  always  made  her  feel  like  she  couldn't  think  clearly.        ❛    never  had  a  camera  when  you  were  around.      we  could  do  a  fam----   a  ,  uhm     …     maybe  henry'd  like  a  group  photo  or  something.      he's  a  lot  taller  now  than  he  was  in  this  one  ,  ya  know  ?    ❜

love  is  such  a  strong  concept  –  all  sorts  of  it  paint  storybrooke  in  dazzling  colors  while  also  sucking  the  life  out  of  many.       jefferson  is  one  of  those  damaged  most  by  it.       it's  hard  not  to  pity  him.       crazy  as  he  is  ,  his  story  circles  back  to  the  love  for  his  kid.      if  anyone  can  get  that  ,  it's  emma.     (    would  you  kidnap  &*  hold  someone  hostage  to  create  a  magic  hat  ,  emma  ?     maybe  not.   )      ❛    would  it  be  worth  it  ?    ❜       she  asks  after  a  moment  ,  hands  tightening  around  the  cup  of  cocoa  in  her  grasp.       ❛    being  sane  but  not  knowing  love.     i  guess  if  it  doesn't  exist  ,  you  wouldn't  know  you're  missing  it  ,  but     …     ❜      she  hums  &*  looks  down  at  the  chocolate.       ❛    i  had    …    tastes  of  love  growing  up.       never  anything  solid.      it  was  all  i  wanted  ,  though.     ❜

"help me how exactly, henry?" her brows rose as she questioned his actions. this was deeply personal for her and she just going to let him or anyone else help all of a sudden. ella's expression remained serious as she waited for a response from him.

"well i had a particularly bad day. i couldn't find the marmite i particularly love and then not long after i left the store," she paused. "someone almost ran me over because they weren't looking," she made an ugh sound as she angrily clutched the pencil in her hand. maybe the marmite thing was silly to others, but it was a key ingredient of her favorite sandwich. all in all, nothing had really gone her way today. she was ready for the day to end.

He studied the arrows buried in the target, his weapon of choice was a bow, but a crossbow was similar.

"You're closing your eyes," he said, holding out his hand for the crossbow.

"May I?"

There was plenty to be afraid of. The evil queen still had his heart. Who knew who else was awake? But he wasn't going to argue with Emma right now.

"Thank you, I needed to hear that." She was still in his arms after their third kiss, and he was still smiling, he was free of the curse, and he owed it all to Emma Swan.

"How's the head?"

The king had taught the princess well, his weapon of choice may have been a bow, but he was proficient with a sword. And even he could see Emma was skilled with a blade.

It was almost like she was dancing.

He blocked her attack and smiled.

"Don't get cocky, Princess."
