lucius  can't  help  but  walk  slowly  down  the  quiet  cobblestone  street  of  diagon  alley,  his  mind  preoccupied  with  the  events  of  the  past  few  weeks.  his  engagement  to  narcissa  still  feels  like  a  weight  he  has  yet  to  fully  embrace,  though  it’s  a  match  made  for  status,  no  question.  but  today,  as  he  passes  a  familiar  shop,  he  notices  someone  he  hasn’t  seen  in  a  long  while.  andromeda  black  stands  by  the  window  of  a  madam  malkin's,  but  there’s  something  different  about  her.  lucius  pauses,  then,  almost  unconsciously,  approaches  her  with  a  calm,  measured  step,  the  distance  between  them  shrinking  slowly. ❝  andromeda,  ❞  he  says  her  name  softly,  though  it’s  no  less  deliberate  than  his  usual  cool  tone.  he  glances  at  her  briefly  before  focusing  on  the  shop  before  them,  as  if  unsure  where  to  start.  it's  then  that  he  realizes  he  isn't  sure  where  narcissa  stands  with  andromeda,  and  whether  this  could  be  seen  as  a  conflict  of  interest  for  their  betrothal.  then  again,  andromeda  is  also  a  colleague  of  rosie's.  maybe  entering  the  boutique  was  a  mistake  after  all.

Severus strode through the halls of St. Mungos with single minded purpose and a distinctly irritated scowl upon his face. He had thirteen cases of blood malediction to follow up on and neither of the fellow junior researchers that were hired alongside him were feeling up to carrying their own weight around here. Both purebloods, not heirs, although they have certainly inherited the abhorrent work ethic and unearned self importance that came with their status. Lazy and entitled and accustomed to being served. If Severus did not know Lucius Malfoy personally, he would’ve thought all purebloods were this bloody useless.

“ You, ” Severus barked when he spotted the apprentice that was meant to shadow him this month. He mostly ignored her up to this point, buried in books and notes as he was. She was meant to follow the senior researcher, who passed the responsibility down to his juniors, where it fell wordlessly into his hands, as it often did. “ Come with me, ” he said, passing a heap of parchment into her arms without breaking his stride. They were making their way towards the dark curses ward. “ You are aware of the study Healer Davis is conducting on blood curses? ”

she had been adopted, not bred like andromeda and cissy. bellatrix's rage had lifted from the moment she had found out that her siblings did not take the black name like they should: they did not welcome the arrangement and name with open arms like bellatrix did. then again, she owed it to the name, she owed it to THEIR parents to be everything that she needed to be: a loyal soldier and somebody who did not pass up the chance to ruin every single person in their wake.

however, andromeda was different. soft spoken, determined, and anything but black bred should be. then again, how should bellatrix know? she shouldn't -- she hadn't been born into this family, she had been brought. her hues met her dear sister's and she huffed, a spiraling sigh as her feral hues etched out death in andromeda's making. as much as she HATED her sister's betrayal, she wished for her to change sides even more. to be who she needed to be. "bloody hell, why couldn't you just be....what you're supposed to be, sister? why did you have to do this to our family? betray us?"
