Its that time again! Another Encore playlist!
Welcome to another edition of Lana's playlists at Encore. It's another Saturday in NDG with so much music to get through and just a mere 8 hours to do it!
Be sure to come in and listen live. It's better than reading my halfwit commentary, really. You may even end up buying a book or something. We have that effect on people.
Great lineup today, so here it goes!
1. Opening music: "Dave Clark Five - Greatest Hits" We all need some 60s rock n' roll to start our day off right. Surprise feature: 'Do You Love me'. Brought back some memories of dancin' the night away in Turks & Caicos in 1997 with my parents. Yes, I was 10.
2. "Gladys Knight and the Pips - All Our Love" Am I in the waiting room at the dentist's office? Is this the end credits of a bad 90's movie? You be the judge. Nice use of the TD-80.
3. "Smokey Robinson - Being With You" Does he know he sounds like a woman? That's cool. Liking the soft reggae vibe.
4. "Soft Cell - Non-Stop Ecstatic Dancing" We're switchin' it up a little here. Got a little lunchtime dance fever.
5. "The Isley Brothers - Isley's Greatest Hits" I'm a fan of the greatest hits album in cases like this. You're never disappointed. Also when you're shooting in the dark like I am, you're guaranteed to know at least 2 songs. THEN, when you've selected your own greatest hits of the greatest hits, you can then refer to the actual albums they appear on and then pick those up for your collection and look totally savvy. See what I did there?
6. Another switch up: "The Great Benny Goodman - Original Performances of the Benny Goodman Classics in Swing" Reminds me of my grandfather.
7. "Sister Sledge - Love Somebody Today" Yes, that's right. What's else is a dollar bin for?
8. "Styx - Equinox" Let me please draw your attention to the album art on this one. That right there would be an ice cube on fire. Profound? I think so. Whatever ok, it has Suite Madame Blue, I'm down. Also, Dennis DeYoung is one of those singers that you either love or hate and I love.
9. "Hollywood A Gogo: A hip new Dance Party Album of your Favorites!! in the original West Coast sound" Yes, that is what it says! Basically we're merging my 60s-inspired morning and my Dance Party lunch break. Woo!
10. "The Music from Peter Gunn - Henry Mancini" This is just fun.
11. "Supertramp - Breakfast in America" Descending chord progressions just end the day off nicely. I also haven't listened to this one in quite a while. And that concludes our broadcast day!
Thanks for hangin, see y'all next time onnnn LANA'S ENCORE PLAYLISTS!
