A couple ideas for a TTRPG that is either sea voyage-based, or has a voyage session, or you just really, really like boats! If you like what you see, feel free to check out my ko-fi; I've got a full list of 10 ideas available for members.
Ahoy, Gheisties! Here's a sneak peek of the top membership content! I've got an encounter idea here that would be suitable for your home game's next sea-based scenario; but if you sign up for the $5 Lil Gheisties tier, you get to see all ten!!
1. The ship’s cat hates everyone except for the captain…and for some reason, one of your party members. The grizzled old feline won’t leave them alone, following them around and yowling for their attention. It goes nearly mad if it can’t get to the party member, scratching and tearing at any door or obstacle in the way until it can glue itself once more to their side.
2. You stumble across a few members of the crew gambling at a dice game, which you know the Captain has expressly forbidden. One of them pulls out a wicked looking knife, eyeing you up and down. “Well? In or out, mate?” The question seems just as loaded as a few of the dice.
3. The water all around the ship begins to light up with tiny pinpricks of bioluminescence. As the sun sets, the waters grow brighter, particle by particle. Darkness descends, and the lights suddenly seem to rise - and drift out of the water entirely, surrounding the entire ship and engulfing it in light. Attracted by the brightness, you see the shadow of something big go under the ship - something very, very big.
