misterthumbs - Feels Like (kuxxan SUUM Remix)

we've posted a collab between these two fiends before, but this remix right here...something else. misterthumbs has never sounded so visceral, kuxxan never so dangerous and in control. if these two keep working together, maybe NY will get our own Bug/Flowdan combo, or maybe we'll be treated to something new entirely. my bet's on the latter.

New kuxxan SUUM for End Fence just isn't human.

End Fence come supremely correct with their latest offering, a 4-track injection of tertiary travel through alien worlds via label co-owner kuxxan SUUM's binary[GALAXY] EP. Heading off kuxxan's travels into hitherto unexplored sonic realms is the title track, mining tunnels that are chockful of scuttling life forms that race to escape some kind of large, earth-moving machinery that definitely has bad intentions. The only real comparisons that come to mind are of 90s Warp IDM grated on top of Objekt-style subsonic wobbles...and even that is a stretch.

"first night in Brooklyn" sees a cluster of beings dropping down into Cobble Hill and making their way up towards darker haunts in the Crown Heights region, buoyed all the while by a funked up bassline that acts as an ideal hovercraft for the little mites to peruse the livest borough.

With their neighborhood tour over, we head underground to the city's subway systems for "ternary[GALAXY]", a click-laden episode that bobs and weaves between rafters to the delightful hum of other-worldly machinery. Where it drops us into is probably the most dangerous spot of this EP, as "Primitive Laser" envisions a prehistoric tribal dance around that monolith from 2001, if that monolith was in fact a big, fuck-off laser transmitter.

Quite the journey from one of Brooklyn's finest experimental musicians. We're a bit thunderstruck by it all, and as is the case with these kinds of all-encompassing releases, we find ourselves going back for more on a regular basis only to find even more artifacts to plunder and sounds to savor. Big ups End Fence crew and kuxxan, seriously bold moves.
