Surprise led me to a cluster of Kantonian Honeysuckle plants yesterday so I figured I should talk a bit about them as a wild treat!
Now its important to know, not all honeysuckle are edible, but Kantonian Honeysuckle is one of those cases where its perfectly safe to drink nectar from (but DO NOT eat honeysuckle berries, they are not edible and can make you ill) While honeysuckle can't replace a good nutritional meal, they're very good as a sweets substitute should you encounter them in the wild.
..However, I want to say that this is only a treat for trainers and grass type Pokemon like Gloom who produce nectar of their own. Pokemon like my buddy Mutt (Growlithe) and most mammal based mons will get very ill if they eat anything from the plant and in some cases it can even turn fatal. If your Pokemon ever accidentally ingest one of these plants, it is important to get to a Pokemon center straight away so the optimal treatment can be administered as quickly as possible.
Before consuming any kind of honeysuckle plant, I strongly encourage you to do your own research. Most honeysuckle are safe to eat, but its always better to be prepared when out and about foraging. Safety should always be the number one priority for both you and the environment!
A lot of KHR fic is OOC and I got drunk and emotional about how much I love these kids, so here’s a comprehensive list of some core character traits people don’t pay much attention to when writing KHR fic. Covers Tsuna, the Guardians, Reborn, and Mukuro, and some notable relationships between them.
Characters
Tsuna: Begins selfish, brash, noisy, whiny, and lazy, with low self-confidence. Relatively average middle-schooler, but has a heavily avoidant personality, and tries to avoid being Any Bad Situations Ever. Easily stressed out by responsibility. Is weirdly fine with being a pathetic trash-heap, and even seems happy when he fails in a situation where he expects to. A boy at peak Loser's Complex level, afraid of change and loss of control. As the story progresses, he becomes more earnest and forthcoming, and manages to drop his avoidant habits when he really needs to.
Gokudera: An ex-hitman (?) who works at the local convenience store now that he quit his old job. Loves cryptids so much, SEVERELY self-conscious, prone to severe black-and-white thinking. Hates literally anyone that makes him feel even more self-conscious than he already is, so he wants to fight all adults, and also Yamamoto. Wants to be the right-hand man. Replaces ego with hatred and worship in turn, and more concerned with the idea of things rather than actual responsibilities. As the story progresses, he works through his black-and-white feelings and develops the ability to understand that people are complex and have pros and cons.
Yamamoto: Takes everything waaaaay too seriously. Likes to have fun even in risky situations and doesn't tend to regard anything as dangerous unless there's some sort of malicious opponent. Craves attention. Doesn't seem capable of feeling sadness/processing grief. Is fixated on having the job of right-hand man (as opposed to Gokudera's fixation on the status of it). The (TYE) Guardian most down with murder, but also the only one besides Tsuna who prefers to have an amicable relationship with his opponents. Literally does not have a moral compass. It's just Gone. As the story develops, he progressively gets more professional and secure in himself and his relationships.
Ryouhei: Emotionally perceptive, but about as cunning as a bag of bricks. Always straight-forward and direct, and passionate about the stuff he cares about. Inherently kind and noble. Not a shred of doubt in his mind at any given moment. Has a very compassionate, welcoming nature, and is willing to protect/fight for anyone who needs it. A bit impulsive and quick to talk with his fists. Does not tolerate hateful people. Over the series he doesn't get any more cunning, but he steadily becomes more emotionally mature and reliable.
Lambo: Selfish, gloating, but also insecure and desperate for recognition. Shows a lot of symptoms of neglect. Doesn't think much of any of the people who care for him, but he loves them. TYL version is spoiled and seems to be a blank canvas smeared with countless bad influences. Kind of a flirt, and always prefers to kick back and relax. 20YL version is this, but tired and resigned. Never learns to respect Tsuna, but fights out of love for his family.
Hibari: Weird. Easily the most selfish and spoiled character out of all of them (barring maybe present-day Lambo), and has a distant relationship with other people, even Kusakabe. Singularly fixated on order and keeping noise to a minimum. Will Not Stop Talking when he's in control, but is dead silent when someone else is leading the conversation. Really morbid sensibilities. Traditional Japanese boy. Calls everyone who couldn't dream of ever being on his level 'herbivores'. When he's forced to acknowledge outliers, he gives them a nickname ('King of Monkey Mountain', 'Bucking Horse', 'Little Animal'). If he respects them, they get to be referred to by their name. Only seems to like and respect 4 people; Kusakabe, Yamamoto (!?), Tsuna, and Reborn. Everyone else either pisses him off or is totally irrelevant. Refuses to show any sort of affection or personal preference; he just Decides that he likes someone, and that’s it. It’s a fact now. No hints, he just thinks about that person and thinks ‘Acceptable’ and that’s it. His fondness for being in absolute control gradually bleeds into a genuine affection for small animals. Over the course of the story, Hibari understands that he's stronger utilizing his natural leadership rather than his raw power, and understands that each person has their individual strengths, regardless of their base weakness. His TYL self is far more open and has a great relationship with all the Guardians. Super casual about murder tho.
Chrome: ALSO self-conscious, but more on the self-loathing side. Undercuts her own judgement, and desperate to follow other people's leads. Clearly used to being emotionally manipulated. Because she doesn't know much about Illusionists, she is easily the most creative and versatile Illusionist in the entire series. Lives to make others happy, and yet regards herself as a burden. Over the course of the series, she starts learning to support people in more core ways as she finds her self-worth, and gains power as an Illusionist in her own right.
Mukuro: Pathetically bad at acting. Impulsive, demanding, and surly. Acts the most like a regular teen, albeit one with PTSD. Puts an abnormal amount of energy into looking like he knows what he's doing and being in control. Has a fixation on control; symbolically, in his powers, and in his behaviours. Wanted to destroy the world, but gave up when he got arrested and just wants to break down the mafia instead. Has SEVERE trust issues, and Tsuna's incompetent earnestness is the only mafia-related thing he can believe in. Wary about showing affection, but inherently biased towards people who have been wronged by people they trusted. Over the course of the series, he steadily lets himself heal and trust people again, and relinquishing some of control in good faith.
Reborn: Maxed out his perception stat. Seems to have something very, VERY close to Hyper Intuition, though it seems to be constructed out of deductive reasoning, life experience, and hypervigalence rather than an inborn trait. Knows All. Likes poking things to see what they do. Very scientific-minded. Has a very Laid-Back Grandpa attitude, and prefers to play hooky when he can. Doesn't really care to push people nonstop, instead falling on short and vicious bursts. Respects people's boundaries and emotional limits, but loves rampaging until he reaches them. Has a closed-off relationships with his previous associates/students (Bianchi, Dino, presumably Shamal). Incredibly nihilistic and fatalistic. Over the course of the series, he learns to have hope in the future, and in himself. He also learns to rely on others when he needs to, instead of taking care of everything himself.
NOTABLE RELATIONSHIPS:
Gokudera & Yamamoto: Gokudera hates Yamamoto for bruising his ego and not matching Gokudera's idea of what a famiglia should be, Yamamoto is prickly towards Gokudera for not prioritizing the job/Tsuna's responsibilities/Teamwork (but still tries to remedy it, because they're teammates! and Yams is a friendly guy)
Gokudera & Ryouhei: Actively dislike each other, for their core personalities rather than their values. They become more neutral as they grow up emotionally, but until then, constantly sucker-punch each-other.
Ryouhei & Hibari: Ryouhei thinks Hibari is a lonely kid and visits his house every day to get him to join his club and make new friends, Hibari has met his match and finds Ryouhei exhausting to interact with and avoids him whenever possible
Hibari & Mukuro: Hibari is pissed off that he lost but doesn't otherwise care about Mukuro, Mukuro is threatened by Hibari's assertive control running in contradiction to his own, and tries to get a leg up on him at every opportunity, which pisses Hibari off even more.
Chrome & Mukuro: Chrome depends on Mukuro for direction in life, and Mukuro depends on her for regaining his control. Their relationship balances out as Mukuro relinquishes his control more and Chrome becomes more comfortable in what she wants out of her relationships.
