Honestly, Alex was done dirty by the Degrassi writers. She was introduced as Jay's girlfriend and really didn't have a personality of her own.

Then they broke up and she got some character development, but it was all based around Paige. Then her entire character basically became Paige's girlfriend. They let her come out as a lesbian, but except her falling for Paige, we never got anything building up to her realising it.

Then she got like 1 episode about her. She joined the lacrosse team and after that episode we don't see anymore of that. And then all the other episodes she's in are once again revolving about either Paige or her relationship with Paige
