This is Silas Walden, he’s a Bastard. He’s 43, hella gay, and took over an already fairly evil magical carnival by force using Dark Magycks. He’s also the one who taught Bash magic, initially. They dated, it was a thing, Silas was a shitty boyfriend because despite being very charismatic and charming, he’s also a manipulative liar who uses people and dumps them when he loses interest. Like Bash, he’s way too confident for his own good, especially when it comes to making deals with Very Old Ghosts. When his carnival rolls into Uncertain, things get Bad.

Yes it’s a town in Texas but whatever, it’s my town now and it’s in Florida, suck it Texas.

Cooper Gardner is 10-11 years old, nonbinary, and a child of pure, feral chaos. It is assumed that they MUST have parents in town somewhere, but more often than not, Cooper’s either tearing around on unsupervised on their bike or at Bash’s house, where they just sort of appeared one day and have not stopped pestering him about magic ever since. Cooper is a weird little gremlin but very smart and matches Bash’s manic energy and enthusiasm so Cooper’s somewhere between Bash’s informal apprentice and an excitable, injury-prone mascot. Mina would very much like to put a bell on them so they stop startling the living hell out of her.

Alice Barringer, age 72 (yeah it’s hard to make old people on Picrew also. One day I will just have to learn to draw or something), has basically been the only game in town witch-wise in Uncertain for about 50 years, and then Bash showed up with his flashy dilettante magic and she just hates him so much. To her, magic is an artisanal craft and she’s a master. She’s been training Tansy as her apprentice for five years now and despite being a Major Grouch, loves her like she was her own granddaughter and is very proud of her progress. She doesn’t trust ghosts or traveling carnivals, but she thinks Tansy and Mina are cute together and generally likes Mina, relation to The Most Obnoxious Witch In Town notwithstanding.

Sebastian “Bash” Velasco was also another character that was really hard to Picrew because a lot of them don’t have good beard options or any at all. Anyway, he’s Mina’s uncle (her mom’s older brother), mid-40′s and pansexual (that one where it’s a bi background didn’t have a pan option, which like, really?). He’s been a bit of shiftless drifter and Disaster Human for most of his life but has spent the past two years in Uncertain, Florida, practicing magic and turning it into a small business. He’s distressingly extroverted, full of mostly-unearned confidence, and is hiding both Secrets and Deep Personal Issues. He loves his niece very much but is not a great temporary guardian. Also, he’s in a blood feud with the local witch, Alice.

This is Tansy Yang, and I definitely had the hardest time making consistent Picrews for her. She’s bi, 18, and an apprentice to the town witch. She wants to go to school to be a vet because she’s very good with animals. Since she was around 13, her life has been Weird Magical Shit and so Normal Human Mina is incredibly refreshing for her. She’s analytical and likes using magic to make things more orderly, but she’s also naturally curious and not above meddling in things she probably should stay away from.

This is Avi Schafer, he’s 22 and was an aspiring musician and mostly decent tattoo-artist but then he went and got extremely addicted to heroin and is now in recovery, moved back in with his mom, and just taking it day by day. He is extremely laid-back, mostly out of necessity, and has potent Big Brother Energy. He immediately becomes fond of Mina and tries to look out for her with middling success. He likes Bash because he’s one of the few people in town who doesn’t look at Avi like he’s some kind of walking heroin needle. Magic confuses the hell out of him but he takes it in stride.

Hi I’m a shitty artist and don’t know how to make moodboards so I just make my characters over and over again in different Picrews, anyway here’s Mina Hawkins, she’s 17, gay, sad, and chock full of ADHD and Repressed Childhood Trauma. She’s super smart and got into college at 16. She wishes she was actually mean but in fact, she is a very soft baby. She’s stronger, funnier, and more likable than she gives herself credit for and gets a crush on the first cute girl she sees in Uncertain, where she’s sent to stay with her uncle for the summer because she had a massive breakdown in her freshman year.
