My father is around, he just chooses not to be involved in mine and my kids lives. • • • Even though he has made the choice to not be a part of my life, I have learned some valuable tools and lessons from him... • I've learned to survive when the odds were against me. • I've learned the importance of loving relationships, kindness towards others, and how important maintaining a positive family circle is • I'm slowly learning that just because one man doesn't love you, doesn't mean you are unlovable. • I've learned to find strength and independence in myself - I am self sufficient, confident, and overly ok with being on my own (most of the time) • I always strive to be better than I was yesterday because I've always felt the need to compete for his attention - clearly it didn't work, but it made me into the hustler I am today. • • • There are some good men out there. I have had a handful of positive male relationships in my life. One I am most grateful for is that of my uncle, who stepped up when my biological dad stepped down.
