“Do y’ want to hear the best piece of advice I’ve given since they promoted me?” Missy asks, leaning forward over the table to whisper. “It’s hilarious---at least, I think it is, and there’s no way for it to ever get back to me!”

“I haven’t been gone that long, have I?” they asked, scratching at the back of their head with a hand. “I mean, I just saw you.... yesterday?” at least, they hoped it was yesterday, but things had rather gotten away from them.

“Clara!” they cried, stretching both arms outwards. On the table in front of them sat five empty bottles of ginger beer, and they held another (half-gone) in one hand, dripping onto the sofa. “Si’ down! Have a drink with me!”

The Master was quick to open his mouth to reply, before realizing he didn’t have much to reply with once he processed what she said. 

He paused a while longer, before moving, hands going from behind his head to propping him up to look back at her with a knit brow. 

“-- Just what are you talking about?”

“be a dear and count to ten for me, would you? i dinnae want to kill anybody in front of her,” she gestured towards her four-year-old daughter, who lay fast asleep on the bench, holding a plush bear to her chest. “if you do it, i’ll have something to focus on, clara, so don’t argue or i’ll take out two people.”

She recognized her instantly-- it was her. Because she always went changing her face, she swore she never saw the same one twice. Which was... She didn’t expect to get this far, honestly.
