You know how fathers are always praising their kids for basically doing mediocre things, like their daughter writes a paragraph that makes complete sense and they ask her to write their autobiography (my uncle did this when his daughter came. It was so cute I wanted to rip out my heart and die) I think my parents always praised my sisters. The oldest was super smart. She made them super proud. She became a doctor. My "twin" was always so hilarious. She was always the life of the party. She knew how to get people laughing. She is the awesome one. And so it goes. Somewhere along the way I think I missed my praise and I've always wondered if I'm doing something wrong. I constantly live in fear of disappointing "father figures" in my life. I just realized, because I'm about to sleep and I'm thinking about the day tomorrow, and how my uncle is off work, so he will get to show me the city, I got nervous. Because I don't want to wake up late and disappoint him, or do something and have him be upset with me. I'm obviously being ridiculous because so far we've been having a great time. Let me take a deep breath and pray over my anxieties.
