About the Endorsment system
I think we should bring more awareness to the current problem with it, because we could have this really cool feature that actually helps spot helpful players.
It has worked only in the sense that people fake niceness to get endorsments, and thats better than being rude. But it definitely hasnt in the sense that somebody's endorsment level says JACK SHIT about them being a pleasant team player. I've met level 3, even 4, players who were rude and toxic over chat or said nothing during the game and never grouped up.
This is because people are endorsing for NO good reason (probably because of the xp bonus and a lack of understanding of why this is detrimental, with people just wanting to be nice). The endorsments are for: a) being a nice, positive teammate b) Communicating in helpful ways to the team c) suggesting courses of action
ALL of these require some imput through chat or voice. But people are giving endorsments to players who never speak, only on account of playing well or playing a support/tank. Endorsments arent meant to be a measure of how good a player is, or what they play, just of how they work as a team. Contrary to popular belief, playing support or tank doesnt automatically make you a good team player. But if we keep handing out endorsments to people for the sake of it, then this system wont work.
The solution? Please remove the xp gained from giving them out, and endorse players who actually meet one of the three characteristics for an endorsment.
We could have this awesome feature if we just used it right.
(this is coming from a mercy main who gets a huge amount of endorsments for...playing healer. So it’s not a case of bias)
Step 1: pretend to be nice
step 2: recieve endorsment
step 3: insult their mum when they least expect it
