Weight of the Unseen
The news in the Philippines lately has been heartbreakingly heavy. We’ve all seen the story of the bride-to-be who went missing just four days before her wedding—a time that is supposed to be full of celebration, yet became a reminder of the overwhelming "personal dilemmas" and pressures that can lead someone to quietly walk away.
Even more recently, our hearts broke for the teacher in Muntinlupa who collapsed and passed away in the middle of a classroom observation—a tragic moment that highlights the immense physical and emotional toll of performing under high-pressure conditions while balancing a life of dedication to others.
While we cannot know the full story of every heart or mind, these events are a somber wake-up call. They remind us that even the most "resilient" among us can reach a breaking point. In a culture that values being matiisin (enduring), many of us carry silent battles behind a smile or a professional exterior until the weight becomes too much to bear.
Please remember: Your worth is not measured by how much stress you can endure. If the weight of your own "wedding shoes" or your own "demo" feels like it's crushing you today, please don't face it alone.
As a Mental Health Advocate, my goal is to ensure no one feels they have to face these struggles alone. Whether it’s the pressure of work, a major life change, or silent burnout—your feelings are valid.
