#endtransviolence (at Kaleidoscope Youth Center)
2016 was the deadliest year on record for the transgender community resulting in 27 homicides, majority of these homicides were Transgender people of color. Now that we have entered 2017, unless significant awareness is raised these numbers are only set to increase. We must force mainstream society to acknowledge this transphobic violence and demand significant justice.
Transgender people are significantly targeted by police which makes it even harder to create safe space for transgender men and women because the people who are supposed to protect us are actively destroying us. Even though, this performance was constitutionally protected under New York State law, I was arrested unlawfully, spent 2 days in jail and was intentionally misgendered by the arresting officers. The misgendering of transgender men and women is a significant factor in perpetuating transphobic violence among society at large. If our public officials are ill educated in how to properly address transgender men and women then it's about time that we demand proper education on gender identity to those we are entrusting with our lives. I am currently facing trial in February 2017 for the performance after months of grueling transphobic discrimination from the NYC Judicial System.
Please help spread this message far and wide. The violence towards our community must be addressed and dealt with.

Elliot Anderson and Michael Basillas for bailing me out of jail and saving me from the harsh grips of Rikers Island (a place no trans identifying person should be sent to).
