National Writing Project

IDEAS Academy students exhibited and received feedback on their semester-long projects at JMKAC, Jake's Café, a Creative Community, EBCO Stage Works and TYA Theater Factory. Exhibitions are held twice a year and are open to the public. Students host round table discussions, gallery walks, and present music, dance and theater performances.
IDEAS Academy students (from left) Hannah Staats, Sheyenne Morales and Kelsey Fick received first place awards at the 2014 UW-Whitewater High School Creative Writing Festival. Staats, a sophomore, won in the Prose Poem/Flash Fiction category and read two of her winning pieces to the Étude Sessions audience at Paradigm November 29. Morales and Fick, both seniors, won with their documentary in Multimedia. Their film will be shown in an upcoming movie event at IDEAS. The Festival was held November 19 at UW-Whitewater.

IDEAS Academy students in Introduction to Engineering learned about the engineering design process, focusing on improving and continuous redesign through the design of Rube Goldberg device. Here is a video of the final product.
