#Repost @cashincopy Bonnie Cashin, 1963-1979, vs. Mansur Gavriel, 2012-. "They decided to launch a handbag line with 2 simple styles, a bucket bag and a tote, both of which have a spare, minimalist appeal not unlike designer Bonnie Cashin's original designs . . . "--Booth Moore, Los Angeles Times. Cashin is not the originator of what is referred to as a "bucket bag" (and she never used the term with this design. Her open-top handbags were buckets, whereas this design was referred to as a "duffle," as it was based sailor's duffle bags) but she is among a small number of bold-faced names to popularize the style. Between Vuitton's in the 1930s, later revived in the 1980s, Cashin's now iconic versions from the 1960s and 1970s represent her ethos of designing "simple things for carrying things in." #bonniecashin #cashincopy #enduringinfluence #bonniecashinfamilytree #fashionfamilytree #fashionhistory #designethos
