Sorry if this has already been answered, but what’s the like concept for the Enemy Kingdoms AU?

I’m currently working on putting together a more detailed overview of the plot, but here’s the basic premise:
Rapunzel and Eugene were both raised in their respective kingdoms, brought up as heirs to their parents’ thrones. Rapunzel was never taken to the tower, she never learned the healing incantation, and Eugene never became a rogue thief. Subsequently, Quirin and the rest of the Dark Kingdom were never forced to leave, meaning that Varian was also born & raised there. And as the only son of a member of the Brotherhood, he’s expected to follow in his dad’s footsteps and protect the Dark Kingdom himself one day (whether or not that’s something he actually wants to do.)
The two kingdoms are at war with each other, and both Rapunzel and Eugene are assigned bodyguards to watch over them when the Kings and Queen are away:
- Rapunzel’s bodyguard is Cass, the Captain of the Guard’s no-nonsense daughter who views this as her one and only opportunity to prove herself worthy of a place on the guard (though she’d rather do so on the battlefield.)
- Eugene’s bodyguard is Varian - who, despite being significantly younger than the crown prince, has been trained by the best warriors in the kingdom (I.E the Brotherhood) and if he passes this test, will be named a full-fledged member of the Brotherhood.
One day, the two royals manage to ditch their respective tag-alongs and, in an unexpected twist of fate, their paths cross. Neither one knows who the other is at first, but they bond, and over time their meetings become a regular thing.
Of course it’s not very long before Cass and Varian catch onto what they’re doing, and (whether by blackmail or begging) get roped into helping keep the royal rendezvous a secret.
The four of them soon become very good friends, and ultimately, the only remaining hope for peace between the two kingdoms.
