child of nature (2017)
How does
a child of nature
stemming from the original people
the first nations & royalties,
whose ancestry
traces down
to all the true & unknown,
survive outside of natures arms?
the concrete jungle
is where it resides
synthetic feelings,
a plastic bag
covering its face every day
& air
full of violence and guilt.
would rivers, grass and trees
make its soul calm?
missing waters
where the sun mirrors
& the softness of moss
under the feet.
the colors so bright
the stores so convenient
living made easy
for those with paper
the newest
the thinnest
consuming
jars made out of gold
jewels & diamonds
filled to the top
with human blood.
alive the child
it continues navigating
sidewalks and tunnels
& asking itself
if the salt
in the ocean waters
made scars fade quicker?
if rays of sunshine
illuminate damped neurones
too used to plastic,
cement,
flashing lights
and wheels?
