Three-Alarm Fire Rips Through San José Office Building by smokeshowing Via Flickr: Units of the San Jose Fire Department responded to a report of smoke seen coming from an eight-unit, two-story office building at 5589 Winfield Blvd. on San Jose's South side just before 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2006. First in Engine and USAR 13 arrived on scene to discover smoke and flames in at least one of the offices within the structure. Crews initiated an interior attack, but were confronted with heavy smoke and fire conditions that steadily worsened as the fire spread from the first to the second floor. Crews were ordered to vacate the roof and the interior of the building as a second and third alarms were struck and a defensive attack was initiated utilizing water delivered by Truck 18, Truck 9 and Truck 3. The fire destroyed much of the structure. There were no injuries to either civilians or firefighters. See more photos from this and other incidents at - emergencyphoto.zenfolio.com/winfield
