Dinner including guacamole, smoked cheese dip, pea shoots, broccoli rabe, ricotta dumplings and chicken n waffles.
Old Engine 12 is in a restored firehouse. By dc standards, the building proportions are enormous. Upstairs is a bar, leather couch seating for 20+ and a small stage.
Granny and the Boys played a tight set of funky classics. I loved it. Home by 945. My new favorite place.
Most importantly I was with my good friend, Ellen.

Riding Engine 12 back with my dad after passing my pumping final.
So I get to my final exam in the state driver/operator exam and my father is the proctor. No pressure, or anything.

My father has been a firefighter for 36 years and has been teaching at the local tech school for nearly as long. He is hands down the reason I found my calling to emergency services, and I hope to be half the man that he is. I snapped this picture of us in engine 12 (the engine owned by the tech college and literally the sexiest thing on the face of this Earth) after we were done helping teach firefighter I; it is literally my favorite picture ever taken.
