One of the questions we get asked most frequently: Should I flush my engine? Our answer is always: DON'T DO IT! Why not, you ask? Here are two reasons engine flush is a BAD idea. 🔺Modern engines, whether a Toyota or a BMW, use Variable Valve Timing (VVT). All VVT engines use a number of solenoids, little springs that advance the timing and also springs for the valve system. All these systems have tiny passages where the oil flows. Engine oil flush could end up clogging all the filters inside the solenoids and restricting oil flow into your oil galleries (by loosening the sludge). This in turn throws all kinds of VVT codes and makes your car run like crap or, worst scenario, blows up the engine. 🔺Modern synthetic engine oils, unlike "dinosaur" oils, have detergents that are designed to slowly dissolve the gunk. While it is very essential to carry out oil change at regular intervals, do not flush your engine or consider it as a part of routine maintenance. But what if my engine is extremely gunked up? Well, in that case, buy some extra engine oil, let the oil work itself around the system for at least a week, and then change it again. The objective is to slowly dissolve the gunk and not try to clean it in one go. . . . . #engineoilflush #engineoil #syntheticengineoil #carmaintenance #carcare #cars #engine #mechanic #fixingcars #onecaratatime #fortheloveofcars #manandmachine #justkeepdriving (at Hyderabad) https://www.instagram.com/p/CVu4Rp5vx_K/?utm_medium=tumblr
