A student at Oklahoma State University who worked at clothing store was made fun by the way she looked by the owner of the store. Though she spoke up for what she believed in the manager stood by her words and tried to make it seem as if the student created a hostile environment. Though the student quit her job, the manager apologized and wished her the best of wishes. 

This article was very interesting because even in the work place there are things that can sometimes be out of our control. Though the manager defended herself and said there was no intentions of her getting made fun for her weight; she still quoted that she had issues within herself. This article helped with the claim that even voicing your own opinion in the work place can still be challenging yet difficult and could have unnecessary issues.

This article is discussing about how body image came about and how we can promote positive body imaging. Throughout this article it was discussed on how we can prevent people from creating a negative thought into body image and make it positive. Throughout the article researches have devised ways to build positive body image and to create books to help people know the resources available to get help if needed. 

I found this article helpful because this shows the solutions to which people can get help if they ever have a great effect involving negative body imaging. It also had tests and other researchers input into which we got opinion from other people and people who when through body shaming in a positive and negative way.

This article talked about the positive body image against the negative effects produced by the media. In this article body dissatisfaction was analyzed before results were came up with to a solution. Results indicated that body appreciation predicted less change in body dissatisfaction following the exposure to the media. While people who didn’t have exposure experienced no dissatisfaction. 

This was a great article to use in my research for my paper because it focused on the negative and positive effects of body image involving the media. While some was effected, others weren’t. This was also useful because they did many experiments involving certain social media outlets that led to their discoveries.

Study: MTV’s 16 and Pregnant Led To Fewer Teen Births

In this interview a professor is interviewed and asked questions about how he concluded the fact that a tv show led to fewer child births in the united states today.  The professor said he looked and searched up tweets talking about the show 16 and pregnant. Professor Levine said he found that more teens were asking how could they find contraceptives and that the show itself was the best form of contraceptive. He said that in the places where 16 and Pregnant were more popular, he saw that there was more of a decline in teen births. He said that a grand total of 20,000 births have been prevented since the showing of 16 and Pregnant.

This article is not particularly good but this article was a bit funny to read in the sense that the author has pretty much had it with all the body shaming. In this article she talks about how people have gone overboard and don’t focus on the issues that need to be discussed. Though she did point out that our issues are bigger than just “health”; she makes it clear that everyone should just live their lives however they see fit. 

This is not a good article for my paper given that it didn’t have enough content to support a claim. It did however give an opinion of a person who is just fed up with the over body shaming emotions. I think this article would be useful if I was trying to point out the emotions people have over these issues not for a persuasive topic.

In this article I found out some information on cyber bullying. There were a lot of statistics on how children react to different situations regarding cyber bullying.  It shows how many children use the Internet at such young ages. One statistic says that 91% of kids from the ages of 12-15 use the Internet. There were also statistics of people saying that other kids were saying mean things to them and that it happened pretty often. Then they were talking about how children would get into trouble with situations involving a cell phone.

I will use this article to support my argument in my essay because it goes hand in hand with my topic. There are a lot of children who don’t get their parents involved in their problems at home and that is stated in this essay, so the statistics will make my argument stronger.  It also fit right into my essay because of the parent aspect. They said that the parents didn’t think that it was common and they thought that their children would never be apart of that. But, their child would be the ones that had a problem.

This photo is a good example to back up the point in my paper how the Kardashians can be considered frauds. My paper includes many examples of quotes of Kim claiming to be honest and real. She even cause herself “the author of her manufactured self”. She claims to manufacture herself yet this picture is a prime example of how she has no control over her own public image.  Her clothes are handed to her, her hair is done for her, and her makeup is designed for her every single day. She can't claim to be self manufactured when she does not even pick up her own hair brush. She is an image created behind the scenes for the media to see.

This article discusses the effect celebrities have on children. It uses statistics and experiments to show how much change celebrities can impact on teens just from being seen in the media. It discusses how children now a days are wanting to dress more ‘mature’ and rush their childhood while the current celebrities are all about sleek mature looks. 

The correlation between the examples of teens and celebrities in this article fits hand in hand with the Kardashians. This is the same effect they have on their younger fans as they want to look more mature as the sisters. This will support my idea of the sisters changing the look of body image in society.
