DD2b HW1: Reading Notes
DD1 HW8: Skills & Qualities
1. Ability to perform research. Many of my assignments at the university have required me to collect research in multiple medias; so I’m comfortable collecting information. Sometimes my observations/experiences do not seem as valid as others’, but I’d like to incorporate primary research more often to become more comfortable with utilizing it.
2. Ability to analyze information. I feel well equipped to analyze content and situations. But I would like to improve at taking others’ perspectives into account therefore improving my persuasive writing.
3. Ability to solve problems. I think I thrive off of this. I love finding new and more efficient solutions to situations, whether personal or in group assignments/recreational group issues.
4. Ability to speak and write clearly. I would like to improve the clarify and expansiveness of my ideas. Sometimes, I have so many ideas aren’t developed that they all get muddled. But I think my strong writing voice conveys well.
5. They are honest. I pride myself on my honesty, both personally and professionally. I have no problem speaking against the crowd if I believe it is in the best interest of the group or institution.
6. They are willing to learn. I love learning, but this semester I want to focus on absorbing content rather than just filtering it for the course and forgetting it afterwards.
7. They display emotional intelligence. Similar to my answer to skill 2, I would like to improve taking on others’ perspectives and therefore understanding their social, cultural, emotional, etc. position. In doing so, I could improve my emotional intelligence (or understanding of others’ emotional state) to foster more productive collaboration.
8. They are generous. I think the book means generous with knowledge and comprehension of whatever subject’s at hand. I’d like to believe that I’m a generous coworker-I think group settings provide the best opportunity for finding the best solutions because everyone’s difference knowledges can be utilized together.
9. They monitor the best information. At the same time, though, we should never solely rely on others’ expertise. Over the course, and throughout my professional career, I want to make sure that I’m continually learning and keeping current with the information and technology necessary for my position.
10. They are self-disciplined. I would consider myself a self-disciplined individual. Growing up I participated in recreational activities as well as school groups and it taught me that a group is like a machine and each part needs to do its part for the whole to succeed. Organizations and businesses operate similarly with departments and individuals in each department having specific responsibility-each crucial to the whole of the institution.
11. They can prioritize and respond quickly. Similar to 10, each person’s responsibility to the whole revolves around punctuality and adaptability. I believe I’ve learned this through my academic career both before and at university and within various jobs.
DD1 HW2: Tumblr Introduction
My name is Trudy Eaton and I’m currently a junior at the University of Arizona. I am pursuing degrees in Sociology and Family Studies and Human Development.
I like to keep my digital desktop simple, but usually have a million tabs open in an attempt to multitask. For my real world space, I typically hide away in the Cellar (as pictured) or on the 4th floor of the Main Library. But I’m guilty of ending up in various Starbucks shops around town, as well.

The first picture I found was someone putting in the last piece of the puzzle. That is what we are doing today, with our final project; completing that last piece of the puzzle (this class).
The second picture I found was business people running and finishing across a finish line. I liked this picture because it showed people in business attire completing what seems to be an exhausting race. The business attire ties well into this class since it is Business Writing, and finishing the race is like finishing this class.
The third picture I found was a ladder of success picture. I like this one because at the beginning of this course, I saw all the assignments and due dates and I thought it would be horrible. That was like being at the bottom of the ladder. However, little by little, after more homework were being done, the class started passing by and success and completion were on its way.
The final picture I found is a picture of roadsigns. Each sign has something negative on it, and then one sign has the word success on it. I liked this because I felt that it fi with out class in the way that this class was very challenging, and you can either choose to go down the path of giving up, or you can choose to complete this course.
DD14HW7 Reformat Tumblr
The first layout I tried was with the white background, and change the fonts to green and purple and then changed the picture to a circle shape I didn’t like it at all because it hurt my eyes. We spend so much time on our tumblr that the white would give me a headache.
The second layout I tried was a very girly pallets one, with a grid way of posting the posts. I liked it, the colors were cute and the background was darker, however I did not like the grid layout of the posts. I like focusing on one post at a time so this layout would not work, but the colors were ok.
The layout I am going with for my final submission is my original layout. I like the black background, and the single post in a column layout for the posts. These both make it easier to read, at least for me. I also like the colors, and I think it is very clean and easy to navigate while also showing a few things about me like a picture of myself and a couple of my favorite colors that weren’t too bright. Usually my gut instinct is right and here that was the case!
