Technology in children’s lives makes them Future Ready
Nowadays, children are often referred to as ‘digital natives’. Research has proven this point as it has shown that 42 per cent of children in 2017 had their own tablets – a huge leap from the less than 1 per cent in 2011. With time and a pandemic, the average time that children spend on these devices has skyrocketed. Now that technology has become a major enabler in the field of education and other areas as well, there are no restrictions to screen time for children.
The rapid pace at which toddlers, children and teenagers are adopting technology in their daily lives leaves many questioning the effects it has on their development. There are both positive and negative effects of technology, but here we will find how technology, today, has made education and learning easier and vaster in the past few years.
Enhancing Learning:
There is no doubt that technology has been deeply integrated into the education system since the pandemic in 2020. Today, it has become an essential part of the learning process which is why schools and institutions are still depending on online or hybrid mode of learning to impart education. Children being exposed to technology from an early age make them more comfortable and savvy while using any kind of devices and extracting knowledge from anywhere in future.
Fostering Problem-Solving Skills:
Video games that encourage survival through challenging situations force children to think of ways to survive. This indirectly enhances their problem-solving skills. It is believed that this enables children to come up with innovative techniques of problem-solving on their own in real-life situations like trouble with homework, disagreements with friends or even personal hardships. In addition, this also helps to solve technology-based hardships in life.
Develops Future Technological Leaders:
There is no doubt that our future lies in today’s emerging technologies and in years to come, technical skills will become more important in a workplace. One of the benefits of exposing children to technology will be that they will be more prepared to jump into a pool of available, high-paying tech jobs. With large tech companies always enhancing their technical offerings, young adults in future will have a vast arena of tech jobs that will require myriad skills to operate. Exposing children to technology from an early age only prepares them for a bright and promising future.
