I just think it’s interesting (read: really non-intellectual) that Enji chose an ice quirk to quirk marriage with, to handle the overheating issue, instead of some sort of rock/impermeable type, or non-body type (like going intangible).
Does ice quirk plus fire mean that they could better control their body temp? Duh—BUT the obvious issue is just what happened: a fire quirk came with ice quirk constitution. The experiment—because that’s what it is—had to go perfectly; as in the (only) resulting child’s body can handle both quirks, in order for his “ideal” to work at all or be even close to justifiable. But Touya happened, and Enji didn’t stop. Sure both Touya and Shouto could be considered flukes, but genetics is a huge gamble.
This man willingly handicapped any children/a child. That was his full intent until the “right one” came out. He didn’t give a single shit about the future besides his own and living vicariously through a perfect little solider he’d groom. I hope I don’t have to point it out but Touya’s fucking disabled. His body cannot handle his natural functions: that’s disability (gets a bit complicated to explain when magic powers are thrown in).
“Gurh I think ahead and do this for the children.” Shut the fuck up, you’re full of shit idgaf what the narrative pulls
Meanwhile—and I’m not supporting quirk marriages, just noting how he did not fucking think—if there had been an impermeable or intangible quirk, there’d be much less of a disability risk (I can’t think of any rn honestly). Can use fire but not the other quirk but got the other quirk’s constitution? You won’t burn yourself. Got fire quirk constitution but the other quirk? I’m sorry but you’ll still be abused in that house. Got both quirks? You’re impenetrable so you’re fine, or there’s no overheating because there’s nothing to overheat!
Speaking of quirks and families, do the families with a single quirk (that don’t incest) marry quirkless people to keep it up? Because if others married in, there’d be alterations. Even recessive ones/quirks in past generations could fuck it up! So Iida family, explain!
