Surprise Christmas present for @wormvenom because why not Merry Christmas, nerd
“... Should we call Tony?” Clint, as he stared at the knot of Christmas lights that had just been pulled out of a box. He really should have put his decorations away better. There was a sigh from Bucky as he pulled the bundle closer. “We don’t need to call Tony.” As he sat down to begin trying to unravel the lights. Clint grunted, shrugged, decided to go on and start hanging things on the tree. Small, all things considered. They probably should have went for a tree earlier, but hero things got in the way and so they were stuck decorating last minute and fuck he hadn’t even gotten a present yet- “Clint.” He looked back, blinked. “Could you come hold this?” “Yeah, hold on.” He glanced around, made a face before setting the box in his hands on the floor, picked his way over to hold- a bundle of Christmas lights.
It was ten minutes later that he asked; “What if we just. Left it all in a bundle on the floor?” He took another bunch of the wire from Bucky, got a raised brow in response. “That’ll probably trip someone. Most likely you.” Clint shrugged, shifted the string of lights in his grip. “I mean, yeah. But it’d be faster than untangling it.” There was a grunt in response, a stretch of silence as Bucky worked, occasionally taking back some of the lights only to give them back after a moment.
At some point, Clint had sat down, actually tried to help untangle the knot. Progress had been made, it really had. Until he moved to get up to use the bathroom, got himself tangled in the lights somehow and fell to the floor with a yelp. “Really, Clint?” Bucky, exasperated. Clint ran a hand through his hair, groaned before working on disentangling himself from the mess. “Yep. We’re just leaving this in a bundle on the floor.” “We are not leaving them in a bundle on the floor.” There was another thump as Clint accidentally kicked Bucky’s ankle, knocked him off balance. “Sorry.” Clint made a face, sighed as he laid back down. “Fuck it. This is my life now.” There was a laugh, Clint lowering his attention to catch Bucky give a shake of his head. “It’s not even that bad, come on.”
It turned out that some of the lights did stay on the floor in a bundle, being too long for the size of the tree. But decorations were decorations.
