it’s weird how some families like… my dad cooks sometimes (not always) but when he does it’s this Complicated Showy Masculine Endeavor like dad you can just make spaghetti meatballs you dont have to make a four course meal to show off your limited domestic skills. like just be practical and don’t demand congratulations for basic tasks. i knew someone’s dad who was like this about laundry - super fussy about it and also loud about how he did the laundry like just do it?
oh gross. I have found that men are very performative about chores, although my own father is not like that. it's like were supposed to be oh so impressed with them for doing something flashy when women have been sitting down and doing the grunt work for ages.
