Nobody really remembers at this point who found it (at least 4 different people claim credit, it's sort of become a running joke) but at some godforsaken trading post halfway to nowhere one of the crew managed to pick up an old polaroid-style camera. After some tinkering, James got it working again and someone programmed the replicator to make old film, and whoever happens to have it at any given moment will inevitably grab precious moments like this one.
They're all carefully categorized and meticulously catalogued, but more often than not they go missing. This one somehow mysteriously reappeared on the wall above Wil's bedside.
