Oh dear. Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for worrying you.

I am fine. I had recovered and tested negative twice just in time to go to Early Bird Student Film Festival in Bulgaria. Uni stuff after that, and preparing for another trip, Animateka in Slovenia. (Both film festivals had invited me and are paying for shelter and some of the food.)

And in the middle of that I wasn't really in the free headspace yet to re-fill my daily art queue again.

I arrived in Slovenia yesterday! Here is me getting rained on there. ( help )

My bachelor graduation film is screening here tonight. Let's see how the Q&A wil go!

So I'm back from the Slovenia trip. (I was there bc Animateka film festival screened Entbandung there, invited me for an Q&A and paid for the hotel stay.) I went there by train, and not only did I end up stranding on my way there and having to spend an unplanned night in a small Austrian town - I also ended up stranding on my way back home, again ending up spending an unplanned night... ...in the same little Austrian town. At the same hotel. In the same hotel room even. Definitely one of the weirdest things that ever happened to me. Luckily, Austrian Federal Railways had given me a hotel voucher every time that happened. And the town is very charming, with a lovely Christkindlmarkt. So I didn't mind too much. But my way back home did double from 15 hours to 30 hours. Once I was home it still felt like I was still in a train and the world was still moving and shaking around me, until I fell asleep. Ljubljana and Animateka were great by the way. It was nice to explore the city and get to know other student filmmakers at the festival. I hope I'll one day get to go there again.

#the little austrian town was Villach by the way #the germans here probably know why I stranded on my way home #the whole snow related catastrophic train situation in the Munich area and parts of Austria #Deutsche Bahn really needs more funding for basic railway maintenance #the situation is absolutely ridiculous #i couldnt afford the time and money really go to film festival screenings of my film until recently #unless they were in my home city #so im so glad I had the chance to go to two of them this winter #feels like a relief #film is aging out of its festival phase soon #so who knows how many film festival acceptances the film will still get #entbandung #text #non art #nonart #text post #update #Austria #this trip and meeting the people there made me feel a lot of feelings about my own cultural background #which is volga german and caucasus german #I feel that helped me feel familiar there in a way and connect to the filmmakers there in a way that I wouldnt have been able to if #if i had a more common german background #without any exposure to slavic language and culture

For those who are new to my work and don’t know what I’m talking about: “Entbandung” (or “Unscarfed”), my bachelor graduation film has been years in the making and I have gone through many crunch phases and allnighters for it. you know like the cartoony good vibes beasts I make and that you probably followed me for? the grad film is the exact opposite of that. different art style. set in the @riesenlied world. And it is a horror film with a scene that, according to my animation dean, “makes her feel physically ill” (she encouraged me to make her feel that way again when I had accidentally toned that scene down). The film is super colorful though and has a santur soundtrack that I love to death.

Good news: Yesterday I figured out my bachelor film idea and ended up pitching it to the animation dean weeks sooner than planned and it went so so so so so well and she was digging all of it and FEELING SUPER HYPED AND GREAT SINCE and best thing is IT IS ABOUT MY GIANTS STORY AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
