[A familiar face wanders into the hospital, her abnormally large stature causing her to stand out almost immediately. Around her neck was a silver chain, with an unnaturally white feather dangling from its center. On her back was the cooler backpack she wore at her previous visit, but the kennel in her left hand was definitely new. Small quacks could be heard from inside, with the occasional rustling of feathers. She once again made her way over to the receptionist, trying to look as friendly as she could]
Hello again! Is Emmet Brickowski still within your care? I’ve come to visit him, but I’m unsure of whether or not he’s been discharged. If you don’t mind, could tell me where I could find him?
The receptionist takes a few moments, taken aback a little. They silently decide against enforcing the 'no-animals' rule and instead point Avi towards the same room and ward as her last visit.
Hello there! I see you’ve already met my friend Garrett! I’m glad we could reciprocate your handshake! My name’s Avi, by the way! I would normally send a welcome gift, but I didn’t really get the time to bake anything! So if some random desserts appear just know that was me! I’m more than happy to answer any questions you have, just know I’ll be asking some in return!
«Hii! That’s curious, you already know each other? Or are you from the same universe? I kind of assumed that Garrett was the only one responsible for communication, heh». That was a strange idea, but the more he thought about it, the more it made sense: other universes may be different, but some things stay the same. Like all "good cops" being in charge of the multiverse. G. didn’t notice how a grin crawled on his face. Multitude of universes, and in each of them (or at least in most of them) he was chosen for such important job. He closed his eyes, getting lost in his dreams.
«Hey, Avi! Don’t worry about gifts. It’s very kind of you to even think about them.» I wonder when they appear — Lucy thought to herself. «And I will look forward to this mutual Q&A! Just tell me what universe you’re from. I need to get some context»
*I leave them a box of rice and gravy; the meat being pork. The meat is chopped into cutlets and there is rosemary placed in the center daintily. I also leave a healing gel concoction infused with aloe vera for the burns and inflammation from the sand. I also leave a relaxation and energy concoction (it’s the same energy concoction that made them 21.)*
▫️ You are a sweetheart, have we told you that yet? Mom and Dad also brought us supper, but this is definitely appreciated. I can't wait to get that gel on our skin though. That's going to feel SO good.
@enthusiasticaviator!!! Thank you so much for all the wonderful prompts! I know it’s probably already not Lego Movie Day ™️ Anymore, but it’s 8:18pm for me so I’m posting it before the days over.
I’m gonna be so honest right now- I don’t think this is my best writing. I don’t even think this is good writing. Mediocre at best. But my New Years resolution was to hate my art less so I’m posting it anyways. Expect a Balthazar fanfic tomorrow to celebrate Lego Movie 2: The Second Part’s anniversary. Okay byyyyye! Fic under the cut, enjoy!
Daniel was so excited. He had only gotten his diagnosis for dissociative identity disorder two days ago. And he was of course very shaken by all that had caused it, and what happened, but he was also so excited to have a sibling!!
Danny was a fair bit shy at first, staying pretty quiet and not always wanting to front, and they were both still getting used to “switching”, but for 7 year olds, most would say they were both handling it pretty well.
And Daniel was especially excited because today him and his new brother were going to the aquarium with their parents. The day prior had been a stay-at-home day. To recover from the shock, and stress, and to be cosy with their family.
Yesterday, Pa had brought out a piece of paper, and told them to write down questions for each other, and then to answer them, as a way to get to know each other. And while it had been fun, both Danny and Daniel couldn’t wait to go to the aquarium today.
As soon as the car stopped moving, Daniel unbuckled his seatbelt. “Oh- Daniel! Slow down lad! There’s no rush to get in, it’s not very busy today.” Pa said from the shotgun seat. “Sorry dad. I can’t help it! And if it’s quieter I can talk with Danny better!”
“Alright alright! Cool your jets Daniel, and get out of the car, love.” “Okay mum!”
After paying admission and getting in, Daniel could feel Danny getting more excited. He heard his new brothers voice in his mind. “Oooh it’s pretty in here! Peaceful too.” Daniel stopped walking for a second to focus on replying. “Yeah, that’s why I wanted to come. I knew it’d be a nice place to talk with you.”
Daniel heard an “Aww that’s sweet buddy.” From Danny, and gave a sort of mental hug to him. “Alright. Where should we go first?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It had been about half an hour since they arrived, and the boys were walking through a hallway lined with Jellyfish in tanks. Their parents had wandered off to give their sons a bit of time to themselves, and also because Daniel kept stopping to talk and it was getting a bit annoying.
Daniel spoke up. “Hey. Do you want a turn?” “A turn? Oh you mean fronting? Are you sure?” “Yeah! Of course! Only if you want to though, I know you still feel a bit nervous being out and about.” “I’m sorry! I just feel like everyone can tell I’m a fake.” “Fake what?” “A fake person! I’m your alter! I’m not the original. I feel like people can tell, and I don’t like it.”
“Oh… Danny, I promise you they can’t tell. How would they anyways? You remember what our doctor said, what we have isn’t very well known. And- you are not a fake person. You’re just as real as I am! Don’t sell yourself short alright? I know this is difficult to adjust to. It’s hard for me too. But you’ll be okay! I swear it.”
Danny felt like crying at those kind words. All of this had been so disorienting, it was wonderful to hear that reassurance. “..okay buddy. I’ll switch in for a bit.”
..*switch*!
Danny felt a bit dizzy for a second, leaning on a wall next to some very stringy looking jellyfish. “You alright?” “Yes! Im fine!” “You did it!” “Hey! Yeah, I did!” It was still an adjustment, but Danny felt… fine. Good even.
The first time they had switched, in the er waiting room, Danny had felt like every pair of eyes in the room was burning into his body. Now, it wasn’t so bad. Less burning, more warm and cosy.
“Woah.. it really is beautiful in here. How you feeling buddy?” Danny heard Daniel in their mind. “I’m fine! It’s cosy in here, it looks like our bedroom!” “Yeah, I don’t think you were awake and fronting for it, but the doctor called that our “mind space” I think?” “Awesome.” “Yeah…” “so. Sharks next?” “Sharks next!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After seeing the sharks, and the otters, and the area where you can touch starfish, the cop family finally made it to the food court. It was very small, with only one crappy diner and a bakery, but one thing Daniel had found out about Danny was that he really liked baked goods. So, Daniel let Danny where to go, and Danny decided he wanted to go to the bakery for lunch.
“Hello welcome to the Baker-sea Bakery, what can I get for you today?” “Uhm. Yes, uh, I’d like a croissant please!” “Toasted?” Danny looked to his mother. “She just means do you want it warm or not?” “Oh! Yes, toasted please.” “Got it.”
“Good job! See? You had nothing to be nervous about.” Daniel teased. “Oh shush! ….hehe thanks buddy.” “Order for Dan?!” “Oop- that’s us! I’ll go grab it kiddos.” Pa got up from the table and came back with a warm croissant and some coffees for him and his wife.
“Do you want to eat it or can I?” “It’s all your buddy! I’m not much for baked goods.” “You aren’t?? You’re crazy.” Danny took a bite of the croissant, and it was amazing. He finished the baked good in three minutes flat. “Woah, haha! you really liked that didn’t you?” Pa asked. “Yeah! It was good!”
“If you liked that, just wait until we visit the bakery in our neighbourhood!” Ma said. “Is it better?” “Way better.” Daniel once again felt Danny get more excited.

Bad cop parked their motorcycle, and got off, taking off his helmet for a minute to enjoy the fresh air. “Okay, okay, can we go in now?” BC chuckled at Good Cops impatience. “Yeah, cool yer jets man! I’m goin’.” “Uhm… where exactly are we?” “Well buddy, we thought it’d be nice to go to the aquarium with you!”
“Oh. Why here?” “It’s where me and Danny went when we were first getting to know each other. It’s nice and quiet most school days, and it’s a good place to hang out. We can leave if you’d like-“ “no! No. T-That’s okay. You already drove out here anyways, l-let’s just go in and see what it’s like.” “Sounds good buddy!” “Okay bud.”
Daniel and Danny both started giggling softly, as they entered the aquarium and felt Ezra get excited.
*A strange woman walks into the hospital lobby. Slung over her shoulder is a cooler, seemingly heavy from how she constantly shifts its weight. She walks with a determined stride, clothing style unlike any trend, if there even is any. When she arrives at the help desk, it becomes obvious this is no average human, judging from the poorly hidden feathers peeping out from behind her ears. She fiddles with her braid, a nervous but friendly smile on framing her freckled face.*
Hello there, my name is Avi! Avianna Claire. No need to check my records, I doubt I’d have any here. I’ve come to visit Emmet Brickowski. About my height, give or take, brunette hair in construction clothes. It’s hard to miss’em. Do you mind telling me where to find him?
The hospital was smaller than expected. Well, the whole universe was smaller than expected. The average person came up to Avi's chest. Needless to say, she drew quite a few stares.
The person behind the desk hurriedly typed in his name. Their hands shook a little as they did. They quickly found the room.
"Um- so, that's the green wing." They pointed down the hall. "Straight d-down there to the end, take a left and keep going past the courtyard. You're looking for room G-41."
*A small light appears, and colorful mist begins to swirl out of it. It swirls into a humanoid shape, before releasing the form inside. As it dissipates it lingers around the woman in the center. I open my eyes and look around, trying to orient myself to my surroundings.*
Whew! That...was an incredibly long traversal period! My skies above! *sigh* ...Now where the heck am I? I should be close to Em..........
Avi found herself in the kitchen of a small house. Things were mismatched. It didn't seem like there was a matching set of anything, and a lot of it looked as if it had needed fixing before use. One of the saucepans had an entirely different handle stuck on to it.
There was warmth coming from the oven. Inside was what smelled like a loaf of bread. It was otherwise completely clean. Across the island was a small sitting room - largely empty bookshelves, old tv - designed for multiple people, but it looked pristine other than one spot on the top bunk. There were stairs leading up and out of view.
The window above the sink was slightly ajar to let a sweet breeze through. A small plantpot sat neatly in front of it; the plant was a dark, vivid magenta, with small and thick leaves like a succulent.
It fitted in well with the forest beyond. Deep, singing, dark, bluish wood. The trees towered far above in a canopy of large, saucer-like leaves. Neon vines swung gently in the wind. Sunlight filtered through into the clearing where this little house sat, but the treeline cut off into what was almost night. There was no grass, but rather a china pink moss that thrived in the semidark.
Small orange sprouts enjoyed where the sunlight hit the dirt. They poked up between roots and moss-covered rocks. It seemed like they had spread further once, but their growth had been stopped by small plots of farmland. The rectangles of moss turfed up and set aside to compost, the plants pruned back to where they could flourish without disrupting the crops.
There was a small thunk from a shed outside, accompanied by a bunch of tools falling over from where they had been previously propped up. Either the occupant wasn't close enough to notice, or they just didn't care.
Hey Cleric, Snowball? Yall are by far the most reliable Em’s in the bunch. So can you please tell me why everyone is freaking out? Richard and Liam are furious and are composing search parties for…something. I’d like to be in the loop please!
⨳ Wouldn't you like to know, weatherboy
⛯ Hehe... I dunno. Void's mad we got ice cream. [Gasp] Do you want some?
