Meet The (Alleged) Preteen-Loving Pastor Of The Church That Awarded WND For ‘Trustworthy’ (Alleged) Journalism
This gentleman trying to give you the Colbert eyebrow-lift is Malcolm Fraser, associate pastor of the Sound Doctrine Church in Enumclaw, Washington. His church also runs a newspaper and website, The Discerning Times, that traffics in right-wing conspiracy nonsense. Oh, and earlier this week, The Discerning Times gave a pretend award to several other right-wing web ventures, naming them the "most trustworthy news sources in America." #2 on the list was birther-mongering site WorldNetDaily, which was good for a laugh, because it's a bit like giving a Pulitzer to a supermarket tabloid.
Only it turns out that Pastor Fraser is also about to go on trial on charges of First Degree child rape for allegedly having over 20 incidents of sexual contact with a 10 year old girl in 2005-2006. And three weeks before it won the "award," WND ran a story suggested that Fraser was merely a victim of "anti-Christian bias" and is being persecuted for his beliefs (the accusations are being made by former members of the church who are still Christian, so there's another bit of inaccuracy.)
We believe the pastor's doctrine has become...unsound.
