when envie had first seen iseul in town, her non-beating heart had felt like it had stopped all over again. she'd frozen in place, thinking it had to be a trick of her mind, right ? there was simply no way he was here, in this town, so far from where they'd lived. so far from where they'd hunted. she shook it off, and turned to walk the opposite way. since then, however, she'd become positive it was him. what he was doing here was a mystery to her, a town overrun by supernaturals, the hunters never dared hunt on this terf even if they knew of it well. of course, she wouldn't be walking up and asking him. when she'd been turned, she ran off. hoping, praying, her family, and iseul, would think her dead. she was, after all, no longer alive, really. she wondered sometimes if her parents even cared, or if they'd been ashamed she'd been overtaken and killed by vampires in the first place. she wondered, only on her darkest nights, if iseul had missed her. if he had grieved her. now, whenever she saw him, she couldn't help but try and figure out what he was up to in town — but from a distance, naturally. even if they'd caught each other's eyes once or twice, she'd always managed to get away before he could get to her. she hoped, in some dark twisted way, that he didn't know it was her. or perhaps even that he thought, like she had, his mind was playing tricks. tonight, she'd followed him into an alley way, and lost him. looking around, she turned a corner out of the alley and towards the back of a building when all of a sudden there he was. and this time, envie had nowhere to go, nowhere to run. her first instinct upon seeing him, up close now, and though she knew she couldn't act on it, didn't deserve to, was to reach out and touch him. to make sure he was real. instead she stood, frozen in place like that first time she'd seen him, all over again.
