Make a compost bin.

Try to drive your car as little as possible so you can help lower greenhouse gas emissions.

Clean your air filters in your house so you don’t use up more electricity keeping the heating/AC going.

Switch out your light-bulbs to compact florescent bulbs (CFLs).

Get a programmable thermostat so you don’t have heat or AC going when you’re not at home.  Lower the temp or AC at night (under your blankets, in your PJs, you won’t notice the extra degrees, no matter what direction they’re going in.)

To help control temperature in your house, lower shades in the winter to help insulate from the cold, and do the same in the summer to insulate from heat.

Open up a window for AC purposes in the summer.

Pull up the shades on a window and let the sun in instead of turning on a light.
