That the beings in charge of this island granted him one of his children was cause for relief, though Grimm failed to understand what good fashioning the summoning charm into a necklace did for anyone involved. The chain attached seemed old, unkempt, hastily crafted-- hardly an article fit to debut in Grimm’s calculated ensemble. Nevertheless, he wore it diligently, though he chose to keep it hidden beneath his cloak.
Or so he thought.
Grimm drew much attention when he chose to appear where crowds congregated; even if he wasn’t so visibly inhuman, it’s tough to miss such a tall creature taking a stroll. Normally the attention would be more than welcome, but Grimm still knew hardly anything about humans and their capabilities; so he reserved himself to exploring the city at night, when there were significantly less bodies prowling around.
When he absentmindedly put a claw to his chest during one of these midnight strolls, he froze in his tracks. The Grimmchild charm he expected to grab was not there. Though his exterior remained cool and unreadable, a jolt of shock (and perhaps panic) flared through him, and Grimm whirled around to begin a painstaking search.
Luckily, he did not have to backtrack far. It seemed one of those strange humans had found it-- they were holding it up by the chain for inspection when Grimm approached.
“Pardon my intrusion,” Grimm began, peering down at the tiny creature and extending a clawed palm outward expectantly, “but I believe you carry a valuable of mine. Retrieving it was very kind of you. If I may...”
