FINALS ARE OVER!!! :D
Fall 2011 has come to an end and boy, has it been a chaotic ending. Let's recap. Friday December 2, 2011 After pulling an all-nighter of photo editing and binding, the final critique for Photography I has arrived. (: I was super excited because I had my project presentable and super close to what I had designed. Critique goes on and everything goes well. My book was passed around the entire time so everyone had a chance to get a good look at it. I assumed I was to present last since my project was in book form instead of being mounted on the wall. That was all fin and dandy with me. 8 minutes before the class ends, there were only two people left; LaMar and myself. A student asked if we should continue critique and Perry (professor) says, "Yeah. We have time. Go ahead and take a look at LaMar's pieces." Everyone gets up to get a look and right when people were about to start critiquing his work, Perry says, "Let's go ahead and end class. Leave your stuff here." I was dumbfounded. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! It's the LAST critique of the semester, the LAST critique Perry will be doing at UWG (since he's leaving for good) and you can't even finish stay for another 8minutes?! REALLY?! I felt so dis-respected as an artist, as a student, as a human being. 4minutes per person would have been sufficient. All the students in the class could have stayed a little longer. Most of them were hanging out in the hallway chatting anyway! People kept telling me that I should bring up the situation to Perry, but I don't see a point in it. It's not going to change anything. We're not gonna gather everyone together and have another critique. Some people said that it's better to be heard and have nothing done about it than to not have said anything. I just don't know.
However, it's now been confirmed that I laugh like this kid:
Monday December 5,2011 My History final. 'nuff said. Tuesday December 6, 2011 For my Watercolor class, we were to mat 3 painting and frame one. I decided to mat/frame my "abnormal plant life" plant life (photo coming soon) and then mat my "variations 1&2" paintings. Except for one problem- I didn't finish the variations. ): I really don't know what my problem is. I'm so bad with time management, but you would think I would know to take out days ahead of time to paint, but for some reason I believe I can bust them out 2 days before. I'm dumb. Critique in that class was ROUGH. But I made it through. Wednesday December 7, 2011 For my Ceramics class with Dave (professor), we did a Portmanteau project for our final. I decided to do a virtual reality helmet to help me get over my on-going depression since '09. It took me about a month to finish whilst doing projects for other studios as well. "Daftdom" by: pika!envy (me) I have trouble deciphering what's reality and what's fantasy. With this invention, the two worlds can be merged together into one world where I will reside. I'm able to turn the dials and adjust how much reality I want in my fantasy and how much fantasy I want in my reality. This helmet also comes with a neck piece (photo coming soon) which monitors my pulse and heart beat. If I were to have either too much adrenaline or be close to flat-lining, the helmet will use the emergency shut off and bring me back to reality. This said neck piece also has a USB port in the back for storage and/or uploading purposes. This photo is of the base glazing before firing. It's going to have a metallic blue-green and blue marble-like texture on the main part of the helmet. Then gold engravings and a chrome shield. That's pretty much the jist. I'll make a separate post just for this project soon. (tomorrow maybe?) It's definitely an-ongoing process *made of clay *I plan on making this into an actual helmet in the future. Ceramics I - A Painting I (Watercolor) - B Photography I - A History - to be announced
