Eva’s children kept her running in the same circles as her ex and it was because of them, that she would never truly be rid of him. In the back of her mind, she knew her children deserved to have their father in their lives just as much as he deserved to have a place in theirs, but it didn’t make drop offs and awkward run-ins at school events any easier. Most of the time, she was too busy with work to think about all the different ways her next encounter with Oliver would be uncomfortable, but her brain still managed to drift to that place every so often. The separation was a hard pill to swallow, even when she knew it was the right thing to do. Whether she wanted to admit it or not, Eva would always have love in her heart for her ex... It was just a matter of whether she was still in love with him, which in her own way she still was.
Nonetheless, she couldn’t let her mess of feelings for him complicate their new normal. Deep in her heart she knew this was best for them, their children included. It was Oliver’s night with the kids and as a gesture of good faith, she left work early to drop them off. A night without high pitched screeches of the kids meant she could finally start the book she bought months ago. She loved her kids dearly, but she would be lying if she said she didn’t enjoy some of her nights without them just a little bit. Before she pulled out of the driveway of the home she used to share with her estranged husband, she sent a text letting him know she was on her way. It didn’t take her long to get to his place and as soon as the kids were out of the car, they bolted to the door with Eva following behind.
